A contingency of R&D Engineers and Marketing representatives from Boston Scientific Corporation (BSC) visited Enercon on August 23, 2017 for a supplier appreciation event.
Over five years ago, the Enercon product development team started working with BSC engineers to develop a state of the art image processing system called SpyGlass DS to both treat difficult biliary stones and for the diagnosis of biliary structures. Currently, Enercon manufactures the SpyGlass DS controller system for BSC.
According to Ryan Hartman, Director of Marketing for BSC, the system has been used in over 50,000 procedures to date with great success. This system has significantly improved the outcome and health of patients suffering from these ailments. He stressed the importance of the collaboration and teamwork that BSC and Enercon applied to the development and high quality manufacture of the product.
Yousef Awwad, Global Product Manager at BSC, shared two patient stories with the Enercon team where the device in one case successfully treated a bile stone disease, and in the other providing early cancer diagnosis. In both cases, the patients were effectively treated with tremendous improvements in the quality of their life after treatment.
The event culminated in an outdoor barbecue at the Enercon headquarters where the BSC team mingled with Enercon product developers and manufacturing experts to share some good food and answer questions about the end-use application of their device.
